Committees

AHIA

The Association of Health Insurance Advisors (AHIA) was formed in response to today's health care crisis, AHIA's mission is to advocate for a positive legislative environment, enhance the business and professional skills and promote the ethical conduct of its members.  AHIA is actively involved in the sale of group and individual health related products including disability, long-term care, critical illness, Medicare supplement insurance and worksite products. AHIA takes a lead role on health-related issues on Capitol Hill, with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), and the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL).  Your membership secures your representation on Capitol Hill and ensures that legislators are working to make the marketplace better for YOU.

APIC

The Committee on Political Involvement promotes the involvement of this Association in the election of candidates for local, state and national office; consistent with the legislative views of this Association. The Committee seeks members of this Association to serve as contacts for members of the legislature and establish a grassroots lobbying effort. If you know a member of the legislature - please let us know, contact APIC Chair  or complete the legislative contact at www.naifa-nd.org

Awards

The Committee on Recognition of Quality and Achievement promotes the interest of the membership in business of high quality and superior persistency as well as promoting all NAIFA Awards programs. The NAIFA Industry Awards program was designed to recognize those life, health, multiline, home service and financial planning professionals who seek to maintain high standards in the insurance-based financial services industry. By continuing to meet the standards set by the NAIFA Industry Awards for quality, dedication and sales achievement, you can attain personal satisfaction, as well as evidence of a job well done. NAIFA members who reach these levels of achievement win more than an award, they attain recognition that distinguishes them as an outstanding professional. NAIFA Awards include: National Quality Award (NQA) - Recognizes members whose persistency records indicate competence and dedication. National Sales Achievement Award (NSAA) - Recognizes members for  life & health insurance sales volume. National Multiline Sales Award (NMSA) - Recognizes multiline agents for growth in life insurance sales.  For more information, visit www.naifa.org.

FBF

The Freedom Builder Fund was created on August 14, 1989 to enable NAIFA-ND to provide the financial flexibility that a professional organization should have to fully protect the legal, legislative, and regulatory interests of its membership in the state.  The Association faces new challenges each year to preserve the freedom of our industry. Every year pressure mounts on the  Association to defend its members from ever growing attacks on the sale or use of insurance. The Freedom Builder Fund monitors state legislative activity and maintains a status report of the activity for our members. The “Freedom Builder Bells” are passed around monthly at meetings for free-will contributions. Contributions to the Freedom Builder Fund can be sent directly to NAIFA-ND or contact the Government Relations Chair, Terry Weis for more information.

Gov’t Relations

The Committee on Government Relations examines laws and regulations existing or proposed affecting the life and health insurance and related financial service business. When it comes to political advocacy and protecting the interests of its members, NAIFA is one of the best in the business. We engage decision makers at every level of the legislative and regulatory system. NAIFA's government affairs staff monitors federal legislation and mobilizes resources to achieve the most favorable outcome for members and their clients. The constituent and staff lobbying effort is strengthened by both our industry-leading political action committee (IFAPAC), and our grassroot network of members (APIC) who have developed relationships with virtually every member of Congress. The state association works with NAIFA's law department to positively impact state legislation and regulation by developing lobbying strategies, commenting on key issues,  and implementing uniform policies. Our many successes have hinged on NAIFA's favorable relationships with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL), and the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL).

IFAPAC

The Committee on Political Action develops program activities to promote involvement in the political process and aids individual members in becoming more knowledgeable and involved in effective politics and government. The committee works to make members aware of the purpose and opportunities through involvement in the political process and legislative activities.  IFAPAC provides a strong, unified voice that is heard by legislators on a statewide and national level. Insurance and financial advisors have the right to devote time, talent and resources to help elect candidates with a favorable view of our industry and a willingness to listen and learn. In 2004, North Dakota IFAPAC contributed $11,250 to 74 candidates. Contributions are voluntary and are not deductible for Federal Income tax purposes. To become an IFAPAC contributor, or learn more about the PAC, visit  www.naifa.org.

Membership

NAIFA's membership efforts rely on collective leadership from local, state and National membership Committee and its chair. Members in these positions guide NAIFA at the local, state and national level in weaving membership and membership value throughout all association activities. The committee works closely with  members, committees and board of directors to enlist their support and ensure that membership recruitment and retention is integrated into all of our association activities and efforts The committee is responsible for recruiting, organizing, training and motivating members. For more information on the membership benefits, visit: www.naifa.org.
